Karen Green
Board Member, President
Karen Green is the Project Manager for the Alliance for Contraception in Cats and Dogs (ACC&D), an international, collaborative effort to facilitate development of non-surgical sterilants for cats and dogs. Karen organizes the bi-annual ACC&D Symposium and has played a key role in developing outreach for this young organization.
Previously, Green worked for Best Friends Animal Society as the assistant director of the national No More Homeless Pets campaign where she oversaw community program and consultation efforts and assisted with the development and management of the campaign. Prior to that, as the community programs manager for the western U.S., Karen consulted with shelters, rescue groups, other humane organizations and individuals across the country. Additionally, she developed resources and assisted with organization of No More Homeless Pets conferences and workshops. Other roles at Best Friends focused on pet retention, re-homing, adoption, and medical care.
During Karen’s ten years in animal welfare, she witnessed the critical need for quality photos, ads, and other images to promote animal welfare and animal welfare organizations. Many grassroots and mid-sized animal organizations lack the expertise, tools and funds necessary to produce professional, effective materials. It was clear that there was something missing in the animal welfare field. Karen is a founding member of the Petimage.org board and is excited to build an organization that will fill this critical role.
Karen is a founding member of Petimage.org and shares her home in Portland, Oregon with two dogs and two cats.

Clay Myers
Board Member, Treasurer, Photographer
Clay Myers has been a professional freelance photographer for twelve years. His images have appeared in Sierra Club Calendars, Outdoor Photographer, Vanity Fair, The New York Times, and many other publications. During the first eight years of his career, Clay focused mainly on photographing nature images, including: wildlife, landscapes and macro subjects.
In May of 2002, he was hired as a staff photographer for Best Friends Animal Society, located in Kanab Utah. Since then his career has shifted focus from nature to pets. Currently he focuses most of time and energy towards helping solving America’s homeless pet problem,
In May 2004, Clay, and artist Cyrus Mejia teamed up and created the Best Friends Art Project. This unique traveling exhibit features Clay’s pet photos and Cyrus’s artwork, offering people a chance to experience the animal welfare world through a beautiful and thought-provoking exhibit. The Art Project has been on display in Washington DC, Chicago, San Mateo, Los Angeles and Dallas.
Clay played a key role in Best Friends Hurricane Katrina rescue efforts, spending a total of eight weeks rescuing animals doing construction at the rescue shelters, and photographing people and animals in the disaster-ravaged area. The intensity of the rescue offered Clay a chance to focus his cameras on human and animal photos rarely captured in America. This experience has forever changed his life and has made him more determined than ever to help homeless pets have a better life. During his last assignment in New Orleans Clay adopted a dog—Dixie—and brought her home to Utah.
Clay’s “pet projects” for the future include an expose’ on the stray dogs on the Navajo Nation, sports celebrity photo shoots with pets, and continuing work with feral cat groups.
Clay is a founding member of the Petimage.org board and lives with his wife Cathie, four dogs and two cats in Kanab, UT.
